Class of 2015 Brownsburg High School (IN) combo guard KJ Walton is having a very productive spring for the Spiece Indy Heat 16U. The sophomore is a strong guard that loves to attack the hoop off the bounce and get to the rim with his strength and athleticism. He makes trips to the free throw line at a high rate. We spoke with Walton about how his sophomore season went.
“It went good. We got a new coach last year and we have been developing a new style and moving forward.”
Where has he seen his game develop over the last year?
“I think my consistency going into the games is a lot better. Last year some games I would come in strong and some I wouldn’t. I think consistency is the biggest area I have improved.”
Walton is gaining interest from quite a few Midwest power programs.
“Indiana, Purdue, Butler, Illinois, Ohio State, Penn State, and Xavier.”
Xavier was the first school to step up to the table with a scholarship offer. He likes what the Musketeers bring to the table.
“Their playing style is fast. I want to get the ball and go. They like to run off both misses and makes. That is my playing style too.”

While most of the recruiting world was focusing on another commitment, one of the top 2014 point guards came off the board on Tuesday night.
Memphis White Station (TN) floor general Chris Chiozza has had a big spring. He has elevated his game running on the circuit with Team Thad. Chiozza is a pass-first point guard that can also score when needed. He has a tremendous feel for the game running his team in the half court and pushing it in transition.
He decided that he will be playing his college basketball for the Florida Gators. When the SEC program offered they jumped right toward the top of the list for the rising senior. He recently told us what he liked about them.
“I like their playing style. I really like Coach Donavan and Coach Pelphrey.”
Ohio State and Butler were the other two schools toward the top of the floor generals list.
