Jalen Coleman-Lands Breaks Hand In Workout, Out 8 Weeks

University of Illinois sophomore guard Jalen Coleman-Lands will miss the next eight weeks after fracturing his right hand during a skill workout on Wednesday.

Coleman-Lands had surgery on Friday.

Coleman-Lands is coming off of a strong freshman season which saw him average 10.3 points en route to setting an Illini freshman record with 87 three-point baskets.

Illinois will begin practice on October 3 with the season-opener set for November 11 against Southeast Missouri State.

Five-Star Kris Wilkes Sets Illini Official Visit Date

Class of 2017 North Central High School (IN) five-star prospect Kris Wilkes has now set official visit dates to Illinois, UCLA and Indiana with Xavier scheduling an in-home visit date.

Wilkes, a 6’7 wing, will officially visit Illinois on September 9, UCLA on September 23 and Indiana on September 30. Xavier will come in for an in-home visit with Wilkes on September 13.

Wilkes ranks among the top 20 class of 2017 prospects nationally.

Wilkes competed on Under Armour circuit with the UA Indy Hoosiers.

Illinois already has Jeremiah Tilmon (East St. Louis), Da'Monte Williams (Peoria Manual), Trent Frazier (FL) and Javon Pickett (Belleville East) verballed into their 2017 recruiting class.

Trent Frazier Commits To University of Illinois

Class of 2017 Wellington High School (FL) standout Trent Frazier has now committed to play his college basketball for head coach John Groce and the University of Illinois.

Frazier, a 6’2 guard, committed at the conclusion of his official visit to the Illinois campus. Illinois had long been considered the leader for Frazier.

Frazier selected Illinois over the likes of Georgia, Memphis Seton Hall, VCU and SMU to name a few. Frazier showed strong offensive skills throughout the spring and summer and saw his stock rise to top 100 prospect.

Frazier joins a 2017 Illinois recruiting class that also includes Jeremiah Tilmon (East St. Louis), Da’Monte Williams (Peoria Manual) and Jovan Pickett (Belleville East).

Illini Set To Host Wellington (FL) G Trent Frazier On Official Visit

The University of Illinois is set to host class of 2017 Wellington High School (FL) standout Trent Frazier on an official visit this weekend.

Frazier, a 6’2 guard, is very high on the Illini and also has Georgia, Memphis, Seton Hall, VCU, SMU, Kansas State and Rhode Island among his finalists. He recently wrapped up a visit to Georgia.

Jeremiah Tilmon (East St. Louis), Da’Monte Williams (Peoria Manual) and Jovan Pickett (Belleville East) are already verballed into the 2017 recruiting class for Illinois. Frazier would add another scorer and ball-handler to the group.

Frazier appears to be quite enthusiastic about getting to Champaign.

Jeremiah Tilmon Leaving Prep Power La Lumiere School (IN)

East St. Louis, Illinois native Jeremiah Tilmon has decided to transfer from prep school powerhouse The La Lumiere School (IN).

Tilmon, a 6’10 post, is a five-star class of 2017 recruit who is already verbally committed to play for John Groce and the University of Illinois.

Tilmon is headed back home to play for East St. Louis High School.

Tilmon back at East St. Louis, will create a vibrant race for the Illinois Mr. Basketball Award between Tilmon, and Jordan Goodwin (Belleville Althoff). Goodwin committed to St. Louis last week. Tilmon and Goodwin played together on the Nike EYBL circuit with the St. Louis Eagles.
